oh god

i've been sitting at the computer for two hours and just opened after effects. i am a fool! i have a feeling this week is the week i freak out and next week i either A) get fucked by going to chicago and am impossibly behind or B) feel so rejuvenated that i get all kinds of automatic A plusses.

time will tell.

in twenty minutes i'm going to bed, progress or no. my eyes need to not be open anymore.

hooliganship!

foolishly enough i didn't think to blog about this before it happened. hooliganship rolled through the wonder fair gallery downtown on tuesday and it was great! i missed it when they played at the spencer two years ago and finally i got to see them. they have a new show/finale that involves 3D glasses (see second video) and their animations are complex and nonsensical and ridiculously cheery as ever. hooray!

vivid color & experience

& the break from it all, if just for a moment.

reading two

must say, considering we are doing sound & motion for our project, it felt like the end of the reading tapered off without an adequate set of examples for this element. ah well.

Q:

i loved the phrase "craving the curated experience." for me it sums up what information graphics is all about: as users we want to be led around, directed which way to go, and sometimes even told how we should feel. and with the overload currently bombarding consumers, it seems that people would understand that much of the time less is more in terms of directing the viewers. then why, over and over again, do designers still feel that more is more? we are inundated enough as it is; why make it harder for us?

CONCEPT & STORY

21.5% of respondents who failed to vote in the 1996 elections said they had no time.

As the world becomes more globalized, the business world keeps up the pace. The internet expands exponentially and information and work overload overwhelm. Daily schedules are busier and people have a hard time escaping and finding time to relax and fully take their minds off constant worries.

This spot portrays voting as not another responsibility to place into a loaded schedule, but instead a break from regular programming and an escape to relax and take well-earned time to make choices that could easily affect their everyday lives.
